QUESTION:

The BOOKING page does not quite have what I am looking for, can you still service my needs?

 

ANSWER:

YES! Currently our standard rates are:
PHOTO-SHOOTS: $75.00 per hour or $50.00 per 1/2 hour.
VIDEOGRAPHY: $100.00 per hour or $75.00 per 1/2 hour.

 

QUESTION:

Do you charge for post-processing?

 

ANSWER:

Yes and No: Here is how it works. During a photography photo-shoot our hourly rate includes basic post-processing to adjust, enhance and remove blemishes on the most appealing shots from the multiple settings we shoot during our time together. On average we will process from 20-30 photos per half hour of shooting. Post-processing is a time consuming task and can take several hours, but we want your final photographs to be their very best. 

While we are processing photographs we publish them to our "CLIENT PROOFING GALLERY". This gives our clients a way to see the photographs through the process and to share them in advance with friends and family during this phase. 

 

When it comes to video post-processing it is a much more demanding and skilled craft that can become extremely time consuming to get the professional end product. Our rates for video post-processing (editing) will run $75 per hour. We will estimate the post-processing time based upon the need of the client and we will work very hard to remain within our proposed budget as it relates to the original concept and ideas in the pre-production phase of the job. That being said, it is often difficult for multiple people to have the same vision of the final product. We will be very pro-active to keep the lines of communication open during the entire project as going back to rework a concept can become very costly and can result in overages beyond the original estimate.

 

QUESTION: (Updated May 3, 2020)

Is there an additional cost for the photographs once the photo-shoot is over?

 

ANSWER:

Clients receive 10 Full Resolution Images per 1/2 hour of shooting. Go to your gallery and select the the images you would like to receive by making it a "favorite". Once you have the number selected from your session, please notify our office by phone, text or e-mail and we will send them to your e-mail or set up a download folder for your images. A print release for the images will be provided with details to permit printing at your preferred online or local photo labs.  As computers and times have changed we no longer burn CD ROMS of images as they have typically become obsolete, however we would be happy to make one available or provide a flash / thumb drive for an additional fee.

We also provide an online shopping basket from our "CLIENT PROOFING GALLERY" where you can select and submit a print order from any of the images in the online gallery in a variety of unique and stylized sizes and formats. Online orders placed from our site are generally printed and shipped within five business days to your address. We guarantee customer satisfaction with any online print orders placed from our site, however we can not guarantee the quality of services outside of our control or influence. The online gallery will be available for online print orders for one month from the shoot date.

 

QUESTION:

Who owns the rights to the photographs and videos you generate?

 

ANSWER:

We operate just like any professional photography / videography firm in that the copyright of all images and video produced from our firm are retained by Hayes Freelance Photography and Video. However the copyright is flexible in the since that the photographs and video you have paid for us to produce can be used within the appropriate end license agreement. This means you can print and post your photographs to social media sites. You may not however utilize your photographs in any sort of photography / video contest or advertising without the expressed written consent of Hayes Freelance Photography and Video.

 

Videos may be made available in public forums, however they MAY NOT be used for financial revenue in mediums such as YOUTUBE where the client is receiving advertising revenue from our production. Nor may videos we have produced be used to generate revenue by an admission charge without the expressed written agreement from Hayes Freelance Photography and Video. Please do not confuse this with a revenue generating commercial we have created for mass media as a method to advertise a product or service that your business may offer to an outside audience. 

Please note that we reserve intellectual rights to our videos and photographs which may be utilized to promote our services through personal advertising in social media, print and broadcast purposes to solicit new customers. We may also utilize our products (photographs and video) within local, regional, national and international contests for accreditation and promotional purposes. 

 

QUESTION:

Do you handle wedding photography or videos?

 

ANSWER:

No, we have had to turn down our own family and friends in this area and it is hard to say "no" for such a special occasion. So to our friends and family members we apologize for not being able to service your needs in this area, we still love you and wish you the best!!!

 

QUESTION:

Do you do studio photography?

 

ANSWER:

We operate out of a home based office and that is one way we are able to keep our prices low, but it does limit us in the way of providing our clients a studio setting. However, that doesn't mean we can't set up a temporary studio at your home, business or other location of your choosing. We have professional lighting and can provide neutral backdrops to accommodate your needs. We do not require much space! Even though we love the challenge of shooting outdoors in uncontrolled settings, we are thrilled to work in a controlled environment "indoors" when requested. Our set up time for lighting simply works within the hourly rate mentioned above. By the way this is typically how we would handle a NEW BABY photoshoot as we have found the convenience of the families home setting provides the most conducive setting for the needs of the baby and family.

 

QUESTION:

We notice you shoot landscapes, nature and other unique photographs. Do you offer prints for home and business decor?

The fact is we love to shoot for pleasure, it keeps our creative wheels moving! We are always looking for unique photography opportunities during our travels. We are currently in the process of creating a GALLERY to showcase our photographs with an online order process. We anticipate that low run limited prints (1-50) will begin with images of 8x10 or larger with a starting price point of $200.00 each. Longer run limited prints (1-2000) will begin with images of 5x7 with a starting price point of $50.00. But we are still in the working phase of this extension to our services. We will make an announcement on our social media venues and website when this service becomes available.

 

QUESTION:

We noticed on your homepage you mentioned "word of mouth advertising", do you pay a commission for referrals?

 

ANSWER:

YES!!! We depend on total customer satisfaction and we make a point of letting our customers know upon completing a project that we would appreciate any referral business. We will give our clients multiple business cards to help us generate new clients. Upon completing a photoshoot and receiving payment of a first time referred customer, we will pay a 10% cash commission to you. So we truly believe that if our customers are satisfied with our service they will tell their friends and family, and that is our goal. We want them to say GREAT THINGS about us, so in return we would like to show our appreciation for their referral in a monetary way! 

 

QUESTION:

How can you offer your services at such a lower cost than your competitors?

 

ANSWER:

Even though we have many years of advertising and graphic design experience behind us where photography played a key roll, we have just recently started Hayes Freelance Photography and Video as a home-based business outside of our teaching jobs. Therefore it is not our sole source of income.

We are looking for growth and as such our rates are extremely competitive. The real winner right now is our clients as we know that our closest competitors with like service are nearly double our hourly rate. So why we are actively growing our rates are low. We already see the need for a rate increase, but we are not ready to adjust our price-points at this moment.

So to all of those potential customers out there, act now as there will be a time in the future when we will be increasing our hourly rates.

 

QUESTION:

Will you offer your services for free or at a reduced cost for charitable organizations?

 

ANSWER:

Yes, however it does depend on the charity requesting the service, the time commitment to provide the service and the current work load we are experiencing. As a small family run business we want to reach out and provide our services to enrich the lives and areas of our community who may go unnoticed.

 

QUESTION:

What happens if we lose our CD ROM? Do you back up our images?

 

ANSWER:

We do provide short term storage of photographs and video (up to six months). If we have the storage capacity to keep them longer we will, however we encourage our clients to back up the images and video we provide on a separate device in the event of a damaged or lost CD ROM. If a client requests an additional CD ROM we will provide them at a rate of $20.00 per disk as long as the files are still available on our storage system.

 

QUESTION:

Do you offer digital images on CD ROM or External Storage Devices?

 

ANSWER:

Yes. There is no additional charge if the storage media requested is provided by the client and we have the ability to transfer the files to the device. These can be flash-drives, SD cards, etc. We are also happy to provide the media of the clients choosing at the current purchase price with a handling charge. For example if a 2 GB capacity flash-drive is required and the cost of that flash-drive is $8.00 we will charge the $8.00 plus a $5.00 charge for the cost of acquiring the flash-drive. The customer would be charged an additional $13.00.

 

QUESTION:

In what areas of the Panhandle do you provide services and is there an additional cost to travel?

 

ANSWER:

Yes, however we will need to cover the cost of our travel expenses. This includes fuel / milage, airline tickets, and any outside expenses that may be incurred such as lodging and meals if necessary. Don't let this scare you, as we are interested in working with individuals and businesses outside of our area. The best advice we have if you are searching for a more definitive answer is to contact us with the necessary details so that we can provide you an estimate of these additional fees. We currently work and live in the Tulia / Silverton area. We do not charge additional fees for travel within 30 miles of these areas. That being said, we are OFTEN in the Canyon and Amarillo area. If we can fit your booking into a time when we are already in these locations we will waive the travel fee.
